Support Jen’s Fight Against Melanoma Cancer

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Brianna Burnett and I am lucky to call Jen Moore my sister-in-law for the past five years (technically, more like 13!). Last week, we received a shocking and devastating call. Our dear Jen has been diagnosed with Stage 4
Metastatic Melanoma .

What We Know and What Has Happened...
On March 1, Jen suffered a seizure and was immediately rushed to the Springfield
Memorial Hospital E.R. CT scans initially showed a tumor in her brain, and a follow-up
MRI and body scans revealed an additional tumor in her brain and many throughout her
organ system. A biopsy revealed she had Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma. This diagnosis
indicates systemic infection, with tumors in her brain, lymph nodes, liver, intestines, and lung. Jen underwent craniotomy surgery to remove one mass in her brain on March 7th. After spending some time in the ICU, Jen was released to go home on Thursday, March 9th.

Jen’s brain surgery went very well, and she is in good spirits. On Monday, March 13th,
Jen and her husband Alex will consult with radiation and hematology oncologists to
discuss next steps and potential treatment plans, likely including radiation and
immunotherapy. The treatment will be intensive, and will begin as soon as possible to
stop the spread of this incredibly aggressive cancer. It will require an extended leave of
absence from work for both Jen and Alex, and will likely involve travel for treatment.

The Need...
Jen and Alex have touched many hearts within their communities and amazing
workplaces. Jen, as a Talent Management and Organizational Development Consultant, works every day to improve employee experience in the clean energy field and Alex has touched the lives of thousands of college students as a psychology professor, currently at Illinois College where he researches the development of mathematical skill and how math anxiety affects problem solving.

Jen and Alex are incredibly blessed with fantastic people in their lives, from every stage
of their lives, and have a fabulous support system. Unfortunately, cancer, especially such an aggressive one like melanoma, is a financial burden no one is prepared to
battle.

I'm hoping to support Jen and Alex through this very difficult time with monetary
donations to help cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, lodging, gas, and
food while they travel for treatment, and anything else they need while Jen works
towards remission. They are also planning on donating any unused funds to
melanoma research. Any little bit helps, along with well wishes, positive thoughts, and
prayers on their behalf!

Thank you so much for your support! Jen and Alex are so very worth it.
