Help Jen Cover Her Mom's Final Expenses

My name is Jen Hetrick and I am raising money to help my Mom who is suffering from metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her bones. My Mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago. She underwent a mastectomy followed by intense chemotherapy and radiation. Her strength throughout this treatment amazed me. She never stopped most of her daily activities despite being terribly sick from the treatment. She continued to go to work and to help me with my 2 children who were both under 6 at the time. After she recovered, she seemed stronger than ever. Five years later her doctors officially declared her cancer free. In 2022 she began having terrible lower back pain after a very minor fall. I convinced her to have an MRI and the results revealed that her cancer had returned after laying dormant for over a decade. Metastatic cancer was found in her spine as well as several vertebral fractures. She continued to have such a positive attitude and showed great strength even though we both knew that this was not going to be an easy fight. Her treatment began immediately and for another year, she did very well. Last fall she sustained a pathologic fracture in her humerus and femur that had to surgically repaired. Treatment since then has not been very effective. As of today, my Mom is bedbound. She has a tumor on her spine that has caused her to be essentially paralyzed from the waist down. I am a nurse and I am able to care for my Mom at home but I have not been able to work for the past year because she can not be left alone. Our savings are depleted and I am asking for donations to help keep our heads above water and so that I can continue to provide care for my Mom at home. She dedicated her life to helping others by working in a local nursing home for 35 years, caring for both of her parents at home until they passed away and helping me care for my children while I worked and attended nursing school. I want to be able to return the favor now that she needs me.
