Help Jennifer Afford a Lawyer to Keep Her Home

My name is Jennifer Jacobson, and I’m fighting to keep from losing the home my husband and I built together during our marriage. As a disabeled person I am on a fixed income and have no personal assets with which to fund a divorce attorney to protect my share of our mutual property.

After years of enduring emotional and financial abuse, I finally found the courage to leave my situation after a particularly brutal domestic violence experience. Now the court has ordered me to move out of our marital home by November 30th, even though the property was purchased during our marriage, and I’ve contributed to the mortgage, bills, down payment, and remodel.

Despite my contributions, my husband is trying to claim the home as his sole and separate property. To make matters worse, he emptied our joint bank account to pay for his attorney, leaving me without access to funds for my own legal representation. He has had professional legal counsel throughout this process, while I’ve had to represent myself — writing motions, filing documents, and trying to navigate the system alone.

Now, I urgently need an attorney to help me stand up for my rights and ensure I don’t lose the equity and income I’m entitled to from the sale of our home. Without that, I’ll have no means to secure stable housing or rebuild after this long and painful chapter.
