My name is Jehad alshrafi a journalist in Gaza, caught in the unforgiving crossfire of this relentless war. Each day is a battle for survival, yet my resolve to shed light on the truth remains unshaken. I am committed to showing the world the grim reality of what is happening here, no matter the cost.
There was a day when I stood on the frontline, camera in hand, documenting the devastation around me. That day, I was injured—another wound in a body already scarred by years of conflict. But this injury is not just mine; it is the mark of every voice silenced, every story untold, and every truth hidden under the rubble of this occupied land. This injury will not silence me. It will not stop me from fulfilling my duty as a journalist. Even if it means sacrificing my life, I will continue to tell the stories that need to be heard.
Currently, I work as a photographer at Nasser Medical Hospital, capturing the unimaginable suffering of those who arrive at its doors. My lens has witnessed the horrors that words cannot fully convey—the pain, the loss, the destruction. I am trying to show the world the inhumanity of this occupation, to give a voice to the voiceless, and to let the truth be known.
But the price of this war has been unbearable. My home, my family’s home—everything has been destroyed. The loss is indescribable, and the grief is overwhelming. Yet, in the midst of this devastation, I cling to the hope that somehow, somewhere, someone can help save my life and the lives of my family. We are left with nothing, struggling to survive in a world reduced to ashes. All I wish for is a return to the life that was stolen from us.
My work, which has always been my lifeline, is now in jeopardy. The cameras that were once my eyes to the world were damaged during my injury. My main camera, my lenses—my tools for truth-telling—are gone. Without them, my ability to document and share our reality is severely hindered. Yet, I am determined to continue, even if I have to start from scratch.
I ask for your support, not just to rebuild my life, but to help me continue my work. The world needs to see what is happening here, and I need your help to make sure that happens.
