This is Russ Williamson, a very good friend of Jeffrey Newman.

I'm writing on behalf of my dear friend, Jeffrey, who is going through an unimaginable loss.

Jeffrey's husband, Jayson Conner, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest—on what would have been their 22nd anniversary together. A day that should have been filled with celebration instead became the day Jeffrey lost the love of his life.

Jayson's passing was completely unexpected and has left Jeffrey devastated. They had been partners for more than two decades, building a life together grounded in love, commitment, and shared purpose.

Along with the heartbreak of losing Jayson, Jeffrey is now facing overwhelming financial burdens on his own. His monthly rent is $4,600, cremation expenses are approximately $2,000, and he is facing an estimated $8,000 in other immediate expenses, in addition to the many costs that come with such an unexpected loss.

Many people know Jeffrey and Jayson through Backpacks For The Street, the outreach program they built together and devoted themselves to for years. Their compassion and commitment to serving people experiencing homelessness and others in need have touched countless lives. They spent their lives helping others without ever expecting anything in return.

Now Jeffrey needs our help.

Jeffrey has never asked anyone for financial assistance before. Anyone who knows him knows how difficult this is for him. But during this heartbreaking time, he simply cannot carry these burdens alone.
