My name is Natasha Wheeler. I’m doing this for my husband, Jeffrey Wheeler, who is battling Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) since 1/2024. Although it’s the good type of leukemia, and not acute, he’s tried and failed a couple chemo medications that his local Oncologist prescribed him. But after failing the second chemo medication, they referred him to MD Anderson. He got accepted into a research program with MD Anderson to where we went back and forth to Houston once a week to do bloodwork, office visits, X-rays, echocardiograms, urine tests, several blood/platelet transfusions and more. This research department had him taking a chemo medication, which he tried and failed for over 6 months, and now he has to do a Bone Marrow Transplant, which he will be admitted on 4/22/2025.
I wouldn’t have had to come on here if we didn’t need help. But we do. I thought we could pay for all the expenses (I.e., appointments, traveling, hotel stays) this past few months but it’s come up to where we’re getting into a downslope and we’re trying to get out! With what we were told about the Bone Marrow Transplant, it is very scary.
My husband and I met in High School in Arizona. We’ve been together for 22yrs and married for 8yrs. Our daughter, who is 5yrs old now, is truly a miracle baby. We were trying for a year to get pregnant, and the day of our IVF consult, I found out I was pregnant. And now she’s a daddy’s girl. And my husband loves her very much! They are inseparable, literally! He is the perfect husband and amazing father.
It does take a toll out of all of us to where I’ve been very much affected by this physically but more mentally. I don’t know what it would do to me and my daughter. We love him very much!
If we do meet our goal, or even go over, we will be very blessed on what we get. This wasn’t easy but I wanna thank every one of y'all for listening to our story and journey to where we’re at today. Y'all have a blessed day!
