Hi! My name is Jeff Mastro and I'm raising money to offset the expenses my son, Jeffrey, has and will continue to incur during his fight with ureteral cancer. He was diagnosed in December, 2023 and has been through one 8-week round of "red devil" chemotherapy. He had a good enough response to the chemo that he was able to have surgery this past May at the Mayo Clinic to remove his ureter, left kidney, lymph nodes and various other tissues that were either involved or thought to be involved with the cancer. Recovery from the operation took about 2 months, after which he began a chemo infusion cycle that continues today. His CAT scans are looking positive, and he will be back at the Mayo for a PET scan in January that will determine the next steps.
Jeffrey's financial burden includes covering his full insurance deductible and co-pays, travel to and from his check-ups and treatments. His chemo infusions cause him to be extremely fatigued and, while he is working as much as possible, he occasionally has to take time off because he's too sick to work. His infusions are done at a clinic an hours drive from his work or home. The process there takes a few hours, taking more time away from work. All of this has become a mental and emotional burden that is detrimental to his recovery. For this reason, I am asking you to help him. None of us want him to have to fight depression, stress and worry along with this horrible cancer. He needs some help - please help my son.
