Help Jeff Walsh

This past week my colleague and great friend Beth Walsh received news that her husband Jeff is very sick. On Friday, January 13, 2023, Jeff was diagnosed with a brain tumor on his frontal, left lobe. Imaging shows that this is an aggressive brain tumor that is very difficult to treat because of its location near the brain’s speech center. On January 18th, the Walsh family drove to Seattle from Montana to the Washington State Medical Center. Jeff spent several days hospitalized to run tests and to treat the swelling around the tumor with his family by his side. A craniotomy/brain surgery and biopsy is scheduled for January 26th. Jeff will start radiation and chemo immediately after surgery. This will hopefully slow the growth of the remaining tumor. They will be staying in Seattle for 3-4 weeks. It is their hope that they’ll be eligible to participate in clinical trials in the hopes of finding a cure.

The neurosurgeon believes this to be a high grade, malignant tumor. If the biopsy supports this belief and depending on several factors including age and progression of the tumor when diagnosed, average survival of patients with this type of tumor is tragically poor. The diagnosis is heartbreaking, but we remain hopeful of a cure to help Jeff and anyone else who is going through the same ordeal. The Walshes are ready to fight!
