I served in the Navy, and during my time there, I developed ongoing medical issues with my knees. For months, I reported my knee pain to doctors, but was told to simply ice and massage the area whenever it hurt. Unfortunately, the pain never truly went away, and it has continued to affect my daily life even after my service. Just yesterday, I turned in the wrong direction and felt a pop in my knee. The pain was so severe that I finally decided to go to the emergency room. After an X-ray and CAT scan, the doctor diagnosed me with a tibial plateau fracture and effusion in my left knee. This new injury has made it even more difficult to get around, and I am now facing the reality of surgery and a long recovery ahead. I am worried that my insurance will not cover everything I need, especially since I have other health issues as well.
