Jeff is our six-month-old cat who quickly became a cherished part of our family. Originally a foster, we fell in love with him and decided to make him a permanent member of our home. He has always been an indoor cat, but last night he managed to slip outside. I spent all night and morning searching for him, worried sick about his safety. It wasn’t until our neighbors notified us that Jeff was in their backyard, injured and scared, that we finally found him.
We rushed Jeff to the vet, where he is now being cared for and will need to stay for three days. At first, we thought he might have been hit by a car, but the x-rays revealed something even more heartbreaking—Jeff had been shot. I was able to get approved for CareCredit, but only for a limited amount, and the costs of his care are far beyond what I can cover alone. Jeff will need surgery after observation, depending on his condition, and the emotional toll on my daughter and me has been overwhelming. We can’t understand why someone would do this to such a sweet, loving animal.
I am reaching out to ask for help from anyone who can find it in their hearts to support Jeff’s recovery. I truly hate to ask, but I have to—for Jeff, for my daughter, and for our family. Anything you can contribute will help us give Jeff the care he needs to survive and heal. As an animal lover, I know how much our pets mean to us, and Jeff is so much more than just a cat—he is family. Thank you for considering helping us in this difficult time. I will attach documentation from today’s vet visit.
The picture attached with a wound is the entrance wound on his shoulder. The x-ray picture shows the bullet right above his spine. As of now he’s not able to walk, but Vet is hoping that’s due to where the bullet is located and states Jeff might be able to walk again but will be limited.
