** UPDATE #2- Jeff was able to fly back to Seattle the day before Thanksgiving. So that was wonderful news! He has his family close by now which is great!
He is still in ICU and his surgery is scheduled for Monday December 8th.
Debbie did get a little help from a travel Insurance policy she purchased. They covered some of the medical transport back to Seattle which totaled $65K.
Needless to say the medical bills are tremendous. We are still looking any help we can get for this wonderful couple. Please share, if every person that sees this could donate $5 or even $1, it will help more than you know.
I'm certain this will get 20K+ views in the coming days. If every person donated $1 we could really help them out.
Thanks so much for your prayers, your donations and following Jeff & Debbie's story throughout this whole saga.
Jeff & Debbie Morgan are dear friends of ours of over 30 years. They are from the Seattle Washington area and flew down to Louisiana for our daughters wedding which was November 1st of this year.
Jeff Morgan, is in critical condition currently at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. (Main Campus Jefferson Hwy) Jeff has been battling cancer for 7 years. It began with "Sinonasal Carcinoma" in 2017. He had a craniotomy followed by Proton and Neutron Radiation. In 2022 he had a recurrence that required a forehead flap/graft. In 2024 the cancer metastasized to the frontal lobes of his brain and required a second craniotomy and more Proton Radiation. Fast forward to November 2025...
Jeff was cleared to fly down here for the wedding by his team of doctors in Seattle. He was "cancer free" doing well and he really wanted to come attend our daughters wedding. They flew down, the wedding was beautiful, and Debbie & Jeff had a wonderful time. The pic of the two of them is from the Wedding November 1st. The Sunday following the wedding, Jeff began feeling a little down. On Monday November 3rd, he was rushed to Ochsner Lafayette General in Lafayette, LA.
The doctors in Lafayette determined that he was experiencing edema (swelling of the brain) and he was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. With his second craniotomy, he had a patch placed on his brain. The doctors determined that the patch has either developed a leak, or has failed in some way. This could be how he has developed the infection in his brain. After a thorough workup by the Lafayette team of doctors they determined he needed to get to Ochsner in New Orleans for surgery. Jeff was air lifted to Ochsner New Orleans on November 10th, where he has been since. This is where they are now stuck!
The doctors have yet to perform surgery as they are trying to control the infection and swelling, and as of yesterday (Nov 16th) it has worsened. He has also experienced a mid line shift. (Shifting of the brain due to swelling/infection) "If" they do the surgery, Jeff will have 3-4 week recovery time before they can even think of clearing him to fly home.
Their 2 sons have flown down and are here with Debbie now. Debbie would like to get Jeff home. But he cannot fly in his current condition. Neither of them have worked since they left to fly here on October 29th. And the way its looking it will be near Christmas before they are cleared to fly, If all goes according to plan and they even get clearance to fly home.
All of this is predicated on big "IF's"
If the infection is cured, If the surgery fixes the problem, If he is cleared to fly after surgery, etc....
And there is the worse outcome, "if he doesn't even survive this infection currently affecting his brain."
So the reason for me asking for donations is to try and fly Jeff home now, so that he can be with his team of doctors in Seattle. And for him to be near his family in the event things take a worse turn.
Debbie has looked into flying Jeff home with a critical care team. (The only way he would be cleared to fly) The estimated cost for that is approx. $50k.
Please donate if you can so we can get Jeff home!!
