Help Jeff Hill recover from massive stroke!

Donation protected
My name is Beth Middleton, and Jeff Hill has been my brother in law since I was 10 years old. He and Amy have always gone out of their way to help others, and now they can use some help.

Taking pressure off of his wife and family would give Jeff peace of mind as he fights to recover. Jeff’s stroke came as a complete surprise to his family and everyone who knows him! They have insurance, but even with insurance his medical bills will be costly! Amy will be the beneficiary for this fundraiser. All donations will go directly to Amy.

Here’s Jeff’s story …

On the morning of Wednesday, March 27, 2024 Jeff collapsed in his bedroom. The doctors/nurses said most people with his type of stroke don’t survive. Thankfully, Amy, his wife (and best friend) of 34 years was home and able to get help quickly. This has given him a fighting chance.

Jeff has 2 sons with Amy. Chandler (28 yrs) who is married to his high school sweetheart, Rylie. They are expecting Jeff’s first grandchild…a sweet baby girl. Jeff has been so excited! Kids decided his grandpa name will be Papa Bear, because he’s always been a fierce protector of his family, friends and community. Jeff’s youngest son, Conner (22 yrs) graduates from college May 2024. Jeff was very much looking forward to attending Conner’s graduation ceremony. Praying he will be able to watch it online. Praying he will be able to hold his precious granddaughter in September.

If anyone can overcome this mountain, it is Jeff! He is strong! How strong you might ask? Well Jeff decided about 2 years ago to start training for a Spartan Trifecta. His goal was to complete all 3 races before turning 60. He completed the Sprint 5K, the Super 10K and Beast 21K all in 2023 to receive the 3 parts of his trifecta medal at the age of 59. It was one of the hardest things he had ever done, but he felt so proud and accomplished. Never heard of Spartan races? They are not for the faint of heart. Basically, you run marathons on rough terrain with intense obstacles along the way. Overcoming his stroke will be his toughest obstacle yet! If anyone can do it…it is Jeff Hill!!! Several nurses are encouraging Jeff to get to the point where they can run a Spartan with him!!!

Doctors say his physical condition definitely improves his chances of recovery. He has been in a semi-coma since Day 1. Upon arrival at the hospital, they rushed him to "OR" for emergency surgery to insert an “EVD” to drain excess fluid from his brain. Day 4 he began running a fever. Tested positive for pneumonia. Antibiotics were administered quickly and he responded well.

Morning of Day 6 he finally opened his eyes, raised his eyebrows, answered questions with hand signals and head nods. Doctors said this was a HUGE milestone indicating he has a solid chance of recovery. Then, late afternoon of Day 6 he started running a fever again! Became very unresponsive. Several tests were done. He tested positive for Covid. Can’t catch a break?!? However, morning of Day 7 his fever was down. He again briefly opened his eyes, raised his eyebrows, wiggled his toes and gave a thumbs up before falling back to sleep. It takes a lot out of him to do these small movements.

Nurses and techs are saying they rarely see what they call an actual miracle. More than one has said Jeff’s situation cannot be explained any other way. Several of the staff who had even a small part in his ordeal are stopping by to see him for themselves. Even staff from ER. They are saying moments like this is what inspires them to keep doing what they do

Day 12 they removed his Endotracheal intubation (down his throat) and feeding tube (through his nose) to be replaced with a “trach and peg”. He seems much more comfortable. Day 14 they removed his EVD and replaced it with an internal “shunt”. This will likely be permanent. He is still in a semi comatose state. Praying he will become more and more alert.

The doctors are not sure what initially caused the bleeding. There is an area that has been of concern since Day 1. There has been too much swelling and blood to get a good look. Praying it is not something more sinister.

Jeff has a very long road ahead! Please support Jeff’s family to give him one less thing to worry about as he continues his fight! Please also join his family and friends in praying for a full recovery! God is good!!!! We will continue to provide updates from the family!!! Go Jeff!!! You’ve got this!!!!
