Help Our Friends Recover After a House Fire — and a Car Accident Just Days Later

Sometimes life hits hard. And then, unbelievably, it hits again.

Dear friends, neighbors, and compassionate supporters,

We’re reaching out on behalf of a dear family in our community, Jeff and Brooke Strong, who are walking through an unimaginable season of hardship. In a matter of days, their world was turned upside down, first by a devastating house fire, and then by a serious car accident.

The Fire

The fire caused extensive damage and while they wait for investigators to determine the cause, they are faced with living in a hotel. The blaze destroyed the garage, all of their belongings and their air conditioning unit allowed thick smoke to spread throughout the entire house. To make matters worse, asbestos was identified in the home causing more complications and expenses. Although they had renters’ insurance, it sadly will not come close to covering the many essentials that were damaged or lost.

They now face the costly task of replacing:

Mattresses and bedding for the entire family

Kitchen appliances

Everyday necessities damaged by smoke

Clothing and many personal items

The Car Accident

As if that weren’t enough, the day after the fire, the Strong family was struck by another blow: while Brooke was driving to the hotel she was cut off by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck failed to tie the load down and a coach suddenly fell off the back and smashed into her car. When the owner of the truck realized this, he immediately left the scene. The damage is extensive. Though we are deeply thankful that no one was seriously hurt, the emotional and financial toll is heavy especially with multiple children to care for.

A Family in Need

This Strong family is known for their kindness, resilience, and love for others, and now they need us. They are not asking for help, but we are.

We are raising funds to help them:

Replace destroyed furniture and appliances

Repair or replace the damaged vehicle

Purchase necessities for their children

Cover temporary living expenses while they rebuild
