Horrible Oxnard flood nightmare.
Woke up to the loud tornado/flood warning and heavy rain around 1:30 am last Thurs
morning. Turned off the Christmas decoration lights and used the restroom. 15 to 20 mins later, I heard the trash cans banging on the wall and then water bubbling and leaking noises. Hopped out of bed to have water to my lower calves.
Thought I was dreaming til I made it to the hallway and noticed the whole house was flooding. I immediately woke up my family in a panic of all that water. Kid's were extremely tired because they had high school finals in the morning and my daughter had a soccer game later that same afternoon. Looked outside and my suv on the street was up to the door handles with water which got totaled and towed away.
I noticed that the ring camera alerts were going off like crazy. Apparently, all the water to our neighborhood drains in front of our house and across the street. Poor city design. I guess in the mid 90's it happened like this but not as bad. That metal rod between the sewer drain got so backed up with debris and trash that it was severely clogged and had no where to go but up.
I was also interviewed by Patricia
Martellotti, the local channel 3 or 12 KEYT reporter at 5am local news report program. I was LIVE, Explaining what I went through with this storm and disaster.
To make a long story short. We lost everything in the home we rented for years including 3 of our 4 vehicles so far. My wife's suv which was in the driveway is scheduled to go to the shop this week to see if it can be saved. My project car (mr2) a 2 seater was parked in the garage had water damage too. With a family of 5, it won't do nothing.
We are currently living in a hotel til we find a temporary place or relocate depending on how long it takes our landlord to finish or at least liveable. Paying out of our own pockets in the meantime. As of right now, we have no kitchen or bathrooms. Only toilets and showers. Floors are off and drywall cut about 12 inches or so throughout the entire house including garage. We have a storage container in driveway and trash Dumpster out front.
Don't like this entire situation but I need help and hate asking. I need funds mainly to pretty much move into a new house or
temporarily move into something. Trying to find somewhere to stay/live and vehicles replaced seems impossible. Had to place our 2 dog's somewhere using Rover.com for a week which is not cheap til we find somewhere that allows dogs and that can accommodate my 2 high school kid's and 1 college student and wife. Housing rates have skyrocketed and the move in requirements are out of reach especially during the holiday season.
