Help Jeannette Breathe Easy Again: Support a Friend in Need

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Susan, and today I'm reaching out to share a story that's close to my heart, about my friend of 30 years, Jeannette. She and I met all those years ago when we were young and working direct care jobs for a local provider of services to people with disabilities. Since then we have been friends, bandmates, sometimes coworkers, and soul sisters. Jeannette has always had a passion for supporting people with disabilities, and now she is the one who needs our help.

In 2017, Jeannette was admitted to the hospital for the first time and received a diagnosis of congestive heart failure. This was the first of many hospitalizations, and since that time she has faced numerous medical challenges. Over the last several years, it has become increasingly difficult for Jeannette to maintain gainful employment. Issues with breathing and fluid retention often make the simplest of tasks feel like insurmountable obstacles. This has lead to increasing financial hardship. In January of 2023, I helped Jeannette apply for SSDI benefits, which were denied. She is currently awaiting an appeal hearing scheduled for later this summer. Unfortunately, due to the long wait for benefits and a current health decline, Jeannette's situation has become urgent. She is in need of funds to catch up on late utility bills, homeowner's dues, property taxes, and home repairs and maintenance so she can remain in her home safely and securely. I help as much as I can financially, but the amount needed to bring Jeannette's situation to a safe place while awaiting benefits is beyond my means.

As Jeannette's friend of 30 years, I've witnessed the impact she's had on the lives of people who needed her help. Now, it's our turn to rally around her to offer our support. Together, we can ensure that Jeannette gets the help she needs to breathe easy again, to stay safe in her home, and to focus on her health without the burden of financial worries.
