Help Jeanne Ricks Rebuild After a Life-Altering Injury
Donation protected

Several months ago, our dear friend Jeanne Ricks suffered a devastating fall onto a concrete landing, landing face-first. The impact was severe — she sustained critical neck injuries that required emergency cervical spine surgery. She underwent a Laminoplasty, a 3-hour procedure during which titanium plates were inserted at vertebrae C3 through C6, along with a cap at C7 to restore spinal fluid flow and stabilize her spine.
Jeanne spent nearly a month in the hospital and in a rehabilitation facility following surgery. Since then, her recovery has been extremely slow and incredibly difficult. She’s undergone six months of outpatient rehabilitation and continues with physical therapy to this day. Despite her strength and dedication, Jeanne still experiences daily pain and faces serious mobility limitations. Her healing journey is ongoing.
To make matters more difficult, Jeanne lives alone and has no family nearby in the Northeast — and none who are able to help financially. Friends have graciously pitched in when they could. Though her spinal injury occurred in a work-related context, her application for Workers’ Compensation was ineligible and is being appealed. Because of her injuries, she is unable to return to work.
Jeanne has now exhausted her savings just trying to cover basic living expenses and transportation to her therapy appointments. She never imagined she’d be in this position — but, she needs help.
This fundraiser is to help Jeanne cover essential costs while she continues to recover, but with no date determined. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward her living expenses, continued care, and the support she needs to get back on her feet.
If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign — spreading the word means just as much.
Thank you for your compassion and support for someone who truly needs a helping hand right now.
