Hi everyone, my name is Terre Lefebvre and I’m reaching out to share a story about my mom, Jeanne Gauvin. Life changed in an instant for our family when she received a sudden, aggressive thyroid cancer diagnosis that turned our world upside down.

What started as a routine concern quickly became a life-threatening emergency. The tumor was so aggressive it began to obstruct her airway, requiring immediate, emergency surgery just to stabilize her breathing. Shortly after, she underwent a second, highly invasive surgery to remove the cancer. While the surgery saved her life, it came at a staggering cost: my mom has lost her voice box (larynx) and now breathes through a permanent stoma in her neck

My mom is a fighter, but her "new normal" is incredibly difficult. She is currently in intensive recovery and rehab, learning how to breathe, swallow, and eventually communicate again in a world she can no longer speak to. The physical and emotional toll is immense, and as her family, we want her sole focus to be on healing.

The financial burden of two major surgeries, specialized rehabilitation, stoma care supplies, has quickly become overwhelming.
