Hello Friends
I am writing you on behalf of my friend and colleague, Jeanne Burke.
Jeanne was the director of the Martha’s Vineyard Adult Learning Program for over 20 years. This Martha’s Vineyard Public School program helps adult immigrants adjust to life in the United States and on the Vineyard through the teaching of English as a Second Language, and through supporting adults and families as they learn to navigate US systems.
During her long tenure at the program, Jeanne was the driving force behind all program aspects. She worked tirelessly to develop curriculum, effective teaching approaches, community partnerships, policies, procedures, and to find work and housing opportunities for students; all to comfortably connect adult learners with their new environment. The Department of Education visited and reviewed the program this past September and scored Jeanne, as the program’s Director, in their highest category - Exemplary.
Unfortunately, Jeanne has had to take early retirement from the program after being diagnosed with cancer for a second time. We, her colleagues and current and former students, have started a Go Fund Me page to raise money to help Jeanne during this time. Would you please consider donating to help support this person who has given so much to our community? If you have already done so, we thank you.

forçada a se aposentar devido ao câncer.
A Jeanne te ajudou de alguma forma? Pelas nossas estimativas ela ajudou bem mais de 3.000 imigrantes em seu tempo no programa; ensinando-nos Inglês, ajudando-nos a conseguir um emprego melhor, ajudando-nos a procurar um lugar para viver, ajudando nossos filhos na escola, ajudando-nos a obter seguro de saúde, resolver problemas pessoais, protegendo-nos, e assim muito mais…
Jeanne precisa da nossa ajuda! Para que Jeanne continue sua batalha, ela não só vai precisar do apoio mental e emocional de seus amigos e familiares, mas ela também vai estar necessitando de ajuda financeira para cobrir o tratamento e as despesas de viagem. Muito ou pouco…
