Please help me help Jeanne, a dear friend battling stage IV cancer and in sore need of our help.
Jeanne Detch (many of you know her as Jehanne Grennan) is a mother of four, beloved wife, world-class appellate lawyer, avid surfer, healer, and my best friend from law school. Just about everyone who has met her will call to mind someone small, fierce, insanely smart without a drop of arrogance, and often grinning.
As most of you know, Jeanne has been battling cancer for years. Initially, an aggressive osteosarcoma in her knee led to amputation of her right leg above the knee. After the amputation—a profoundly challenging experience—Jeanne was briefly declared cancer-free in July 2022. Unfortunately, soon after, doctors found metastatic cancer in and around her spine, which caused her L1 vertebra to collapse, and she’s been chasing cancer throughout her body with ever-evolving mixes of radiation and chemo ever since.
Jeanne has soldiered through everything, but it should go without saying that the past few years have been emotionally, mentally, and financially exhausting. Where Jeanne once supported the entire family by practicing law, they are now crushed by debt: she does not have long-term care insurance, needs further and constantly evolving kinds of treatment, and health expenses not covered by insurance are piling up.
Please contribute all you can to help Jeanne prepare for the future (whatever it may bring), and please use your networks to spread the message.
