Help Jeana Pain through her cancer journey

Donation protected
Updated: Jeana is back in Oklahoma with a big shift of needs

When Jeana first started her treatment journey we were seeking funds associated with going from Norman, Oklahoma to Houston, Texas to initiate care with MD Anderson. Since then, Jeana has been connected with a local Oklahoma City oncology team at Stevenson Cancer Center and will begin the treatment recommendation she received from her doctors at MD Anderson in the coming weeks. She has also been going to Harmony House Oklahoma City, where she receives acupuncture, natural supplements and therapeutic sessions to help process and release grief and pain. The doctors and healers she has connected with and all of the donations we have received thus far have been an absolute blessing.

We have increased our goal from the original 15,000 to 30,000 as my mother's needs have drastically shifted. What we primarily need help with now is offsetting loss of income due to her inability to work. Even with all that is going on, she is still taking care of the day to day of raising her three young grandchildren. She will begin to need help with their childcare, housekeeping as well as co-pays and out of pocket costs for supplements and alternative treatments. She also needs a new bed and some home accommodations to make life a little easier and comfortable for her during these late stages of progression.

We are so grateful for the team that has assembled around Jeana and for the generosity of spirit embodied in everyone who has given a dollar, shared our fundraiser, "I love you's" or encouragement. Jeana has always been a fighter. We humbly ask you to continue to stand with her, in whatever way you have the capacity, to celebrate the life she's lived with her - and help keep her here a little longer.

Please consider contributing any amount that you can and sharing this fundraiser. Thank you.

Jeana's Cancer Journey

Jeana has been winning fights against cancer since 2009. This most recent however is the toughest yet. In December of 2021 she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer to her liver. One month after receiving her diagnosis she was terminated by her local oncology team and unable to connect with a new team of doctors for three months. During that time her cancer progressed quite dramatically. As of last week we know the cancer has metastasized to her bones, peritoneum and omentum as well. Her new oncologist has emergency ordered the recommended treatment to keep things from progressing to the point that things get severely complicated. She will begin those as soon as they arrive.

Jeana is throwing everything she can at this. The combinations of traditional and holistic therapies she has recently found have improved her abilities to eat, sleep and find moments of freedom from pain. Supplements such as Enterade, turkey tail mushrooms, etc have given her the ability to slow her weight loss and sustain some energy. The full arsenal of treatments and multi-angle approach is essential to her quality of life from here.

Mom, Mamaw, Friend to all

If you know Jeana, you know that she is an exceptional human.  She has raised seven of her nine grandchildren, with three still at home ranging ages seven to eleven (and she's anxiously awaiting another great grandchild). She is the epitome of the matriarch archetype. In her 30 years of professional life as a realtor, many clients have become lifelong friends. Before that, she trained dobermans and giant schnauzers for show and protection and has the scars to prove it. She was in a touring band that recorded in Nashville from her late teens until she was six months pregnant with me in her thirties. She's opened for Waylon Jennings. She keeps a bag of bird seed in her van and sprinkles it in the parking lots of the grocery stores and errand spots she frequents. She would be one of my favorite people even if she wasn't my mom.

After all she's gone through, her heart just grows. After all she has lost, she continues to give without hesitation. She's everything to everyone that's close to her.

We are grateful for any funds received, in any amount. It helps tremendously in preparing her for her treatment, making sure she is comfortable, has the care and support she needs and is as comfortable as possible. Our hope is that they will allow her to continue to be “Mamaw,” mom, and a friend to all for a little while longer. Thank you for reading and for your continued generosity.
