Hello, and thank you for taking a moment to read about Jean Schroeder's journey. My name is Britney Schroeder-Passig, and I am reaching out on behalf of my mom, Jean, and my dad, Randy, whose lives were profoundly changed in 2002 when Jean was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at the age of 40. Over the years, she has faced this challenging journey with incredible bravery and resilience.

Initially, Jean's MS progressed slowly, allowing her some mobility. However, by 2015, she began using a walker, and not long after, her condition progressed to the point where she became wheelchair-bound and eventually bedbound. Since Randy retired in 2015 to become Jean's full-time caregiver, we have all witnessed firsthand the increasing limitations imposed by her condition. Jean's MS has now advanced to the Primary Progressive stage, the most severe form of the disease. She has lost the use of her left arm and hand and can only slightly use her right hand. She can no longer walk and is completely bed bound. Randy assists her with all her daily needs, from feeding to personal care, a labor of love but one that has significantly limited their ability to interact with the world outside her home.

Due to their insurance's limitations, they are unable to access home health care or medical transport services, making it impossible for them to attend even the most basic medical appointments. The lack of mobility has also meant that Jean has not been able to leave the house in over a year, cutting both Randy and her off from cherished family moments and making them feel increasingly isolated.

Our Goal:

We are seeking to raise $15,000 for a wheelchair-accessible van. This vehicle is not a luxury but a necessity to drastically improve Jean's quality of life. It will enable them to attend medical appointments safely and comfortably and, most importantly, allow them to visit their children and grandchildren, rekindling those precious connections that have been strained by Jean's condition.
