On Friday evening, December 12th—just days before Christmas—Jean and Eveline Etienne of Mildred Road in Brockton lost everything in a sudden and devastating two‑alarm house fire.

Their home of 41 years, filled with memories, love, and the life they built together, was completely destroyed. Both of their vehicles and nearly all of their personal belongings were lost as well.

Jean and Eveline, both in their 70s, should be enjoying a peaceful holiday season surrounded by warmth and familiarity. Instead, they are facing the heartbreaking reality of starting over from scratch.

Eveline, a retired nurse who dedicated more than 30 years to Brockton Hospital, and Jean, a retired Boston Public School teacher, are known throughout their community for their deep faith, kindness, and generosity. They are the neighbors who show up with groceries when someone is recovering from surgery, who check in on friends, and who quietly support those around them.

Now, they need our help.

The fire broke out around 4:27 PM and tore through their one‑story home and vehicles in minutes. While Jean and Eveline are profoundly grateful to be safe, they are left without a home, transportation, clothing, or basic necessities—an overwhelming loss for anyone, especially seniors.
