My name is Jean A. Miller, and for 35 years, I have dedicated my life to helping my Brooklyn community through my business, Tropical Reflections Ballroom. When disaster struck—whether in America or around the world—my venue became a place of hope, a shelter, and a source of support for those in need. I even adopted a women and children's shelter across the street, providing food, clothing, and jobs with the help of my community. Giving back has always been my calling, and I thank God every day for the chance to serve others.

But in 2021, everything changed. COVID-19 forced me to close my business after 25 years, and I had to refund all the deposits for events that could no longer take place. I moved in with my mother, but she passed away that same year, leaving me with her 107-year-old house as my only inheritance. I tried to sell the house, but complications with my brother refusing to move out meant I couldn't complete the sale. The buyer took me to Supreme Court, and after two years of legal battles, the bank has now foreclosed on the property. At 70 years old, I am facing homelessness for the first time in my life, and it breaks my heart to ask for help after so many years of giving.

I have 30 days to secure housing, and any support you can offer will help me find a safe place to live.
