On Friday the 2nd of February, I was served a three-day notice to pay rent to my landlord will start the eviction process.

As you may know, I am a doula and care worker in Los Angeles. Recently, I have not had enough work to pay my bills over the last two months. My primary income comes from doing this work and supporting families and individuals, which is my passion. This year, it has been very difficult to find work in this field. I have had some setbacks recently due to unforeseen circumstances and the exceeding cost of living in LA.

I have considered moving out of my apartment, but the moving costs plus the rising cost of housing make it nearly impossible to find a 2-bedroom unit at the price I am paying now. Me, my kiddo, and two cats need to be able to stay in this apartment until I can find steady work. I know we are ALL struggling right now, so anything you can donate will help me so much.

Currently, I owe January and February rent to my landlord. I am hoping to be able to pay this fee of $4,012, and have some funds to pay for my internet to be restored, pay for my car insurance, my health insurance payment, and utilities. All funds will go towards paying this fee, my utilities, and necessities such as gas and food.

I am grateful to my community for supporting me during last year when I had long-Covid. As a queer and trans single parent, I know how important community is to me! I want to keep doing the work that I do and not have to leave this field to find a job elsewhere, which could take months to find.
