Help JC Smith Fight Stage 4 Carcinoma

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Ashley, and I am the daughter of the myth and the legend, JC Smith. As of 05/16/2024 he unfortunately has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Metatastic Renal Cell Carcinoma. He has begun radiation and will start a couple different therapys soon to try and start attacking this and fighting it.
JC has been out of work for going on 2 months and the at home bills and hospital bills are starting to take a toll on the family as well. We are asking for anything you can spare to help pay monthly bills and the medical care JC has already began receiving. We are extremely grateful to everyone for any and all thoughts, prayers, and continuous check-ins on us and JC. We hope to share good news soon and thank you for helping us.
Please share with anyone, JC had a big reach out there in the world and is loved by so many.

05/19/2024 Update:
JC is still undergoing radiation therapy. He is scheduled for a biopsy on his liver but they're trying to clear up a couple blood clots he's got right now first. The biopsy on his liver will be to determine what cell this is so we can start attacking with systemic therapy. He is also to start immunotherapy soon as well to try and get his immune system to fight against it as well. The cancer is already in his kidney, his liver, and his spine and it is attacking the bones of his spine. I know none of this sounds like good news but we can stay hopeful and keep praying that he comes through the other side of this. We appreciate everyone who's helped us in any way during this time whether it was this fundraiser, kind words, and shoulders to lean on. Please don't be afraid to reach out to JC directly, I'm sure he would love the distraction of talking to his friends. I will continue to post updates here so that everyone can stay informed. God bless all of you and thank you again.
5/24/2024 UPDATE:
JC came home and is improving. He is able to dress himself and use the bathroom facilities on his own. He is feeding himself and keeping food down. He seem to be happy that he's home. His treatment will continue outpatient and a home health team will be coming to make sure he stays comfortable here at home. He is somewhat weak and very tired but the grandsons did bake him a cake to celebrate his homecoming.
5/25/2024 UPDATE:
Overnight his lower body continued to swell up and he has lost all energy to do anything for himself. He is no longer keeping food down and only able to keep some water down. After noting how little energy he had and him being unable to get himself up from a sitting position, the home health nurse recommended he go back to the hospital and get seen by the emergency department. He came home with a plethora of medication but after comparing paperwork we don't think all of his prescriptions were sent over to the pharmacy. After being seen by the ER and receiving a CT scan it revealed that his cancer has spread even more and is now blocking his small intestine. That seems to be the culprit of him not being able to keep food down. The mass is also collapsed both of his lower lung lobes.
5/27/2024 UPDATE:
Today JC got a PICC line put in and his treatment plan has changed. He will be getting a mesh stent put in his duodenem to allow food to pass through his intestine again. They've got him back on all his medication and there has been no changes since this morning. With aggressive as this is we encourage anyone to go and visit him as the time he has left is unknown. It's moving fast and the doctors are doing anything they can to slow it. Please continue to share this with everyone so they can stay up to date with what's going on with JC and thank you everyone.
