Hi, I’m Jazzlyn — but everyone calls me Jazz (like the music ).
This past Memorial Day weekend, my life changed in an instant. I woke up at 2 AM feeling like I had downed bottles of alcohol — the room spinning, my balance completely gone, hearing loss in my right ear, and unable to walk.
At the ER, I was told it was just a temporary balance issue that would resolve in a few days. But after two weeks of relentless dizziness, hearing loss, and overwhelming nausea, nothing improved.
After visiting several specialists, I was diagnosed with labyrinthitis (inflammation of the inner ear) and tinnitus (a constant ringing in my ear that hasn’t stopped since). I’ve undergone hearing tests, an MRI, EKG, EEG, and multiple rounds of steroids and medications. While some symptoms have eased, I’m still physically unable to return to work.
What makes this even harder is that I’m a full-time single mom to my sweet 3-year-old son, while also caring for our three dogs. Sadly, during this difficult time, our Frenchie Stella went missing and still hasn’t been found — adding heartbreak to an already painful journey.
Despite applying several times, I’ve been denied disability, and my medical bills have already exceeded $5,000. They continue to grow as I undergo more tests, treatments, and therapy in hopes of finding lasting relief.
Then, tragedy struck again. After losing a dear friend in a motorcycle accident last month, my boyfriend and I were involved in a serious car accident coming home from my vestibular therapy. My car was totaled, leaving us without any transportation — making it even harder to get to my medical appointments.
This is not easy for me to ask, but I can’t do this alone. Whether it’s $1, a share, or simply your well wishes for me and my family, it truly means the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for standing by me through this storm. I hope one day I can look back on this chapter and remember the love and kindness that helped me keep going.
A special thank-you to my parents, my partner, and my village for being my strength through it all.
With love and gratitude,
Jazz
