On April 24th my brother Jayson Crandall, 46, collapsed in his hotel room in Texas while traveling for work. His friend and coworker witnessed him having a seizure and called 911. What the doctors found was heartbreaking — multiple spinal fractures that had been silently developing for over a year, a catastrophically shattered shoulder requiring full reconstruction surgery and years of physical therapy. Jayson is kind, hardworking, and one of the most genuine people I know. He has Asperger’s and has always quietly navigated life on his own terms, rarely asking for help. He had no idea how sick he actually was. He is currently recovering hundreds of miles from home with no health insurance, no local support system, and facing medical bills that we absolutely cannot afford— hospitalization, emergency surgery, specialist care, medications, a back brace, and what will be up to a couple years of physical therapy before he can return to any kind of normal life. Our family is small and we don’t have the resources to cover this alone. We are asking our community, our friends, and anyone who has ever been grateful for their own health to consider helping Jayson get back on his feet. Every single dollar goes directly toward his medical bills and rehabilitation. Even five dollars helps. Even sharing this post helps. Jayson didn’t ask for this. Nobody does. But he deserves a fighting chance at recovery without financial ruin on top of everything else. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
