Help Jay’s Family Rebuild After New Year’s Fire

Jay and his family have always been the kind of people who step up for others in times of need. On New Year's Day at 12:04AM, their world was turned upside down when a fire broke out in their home. While many of us in New York were celebrating the start of a new year, Jay's family was forced to flee their house with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The fire started in the nieces' bedroom and spread rapidly, but thanks to quick thinking and a miracle of timing, everyone—Jay, his wife, his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephew—made it out safely. It’s hard to imagine welcoming the new year by running from a burning home, but that’s exactly what they endured.
Jay is a U.S Veteran and a dear friend who stepped up to help me after my husband, a Marine Veteran/FDNY Ceremonial Unit member, Derek passed away. Now, I hope to return that kindness by sharing his story and asking for your support. The family lost everything in the fire, and while their mortgage insurance will help, it won’t cover all the repairs or the many essentials they need to start over. Donations will go toward repairing their home, replacing food, clothing, and other necessities, and helping them find temporary housing as they rebuild.
Please consider helping Jay and his family as they face this unimaginable challenge. Your generosity—no matter the amount—will bring hope and relief to a family who has always given so much to others. Thank you for being the answer to their prayers.
