Here We Go Again…

Hey friends, family, and kind strangers — Jayne here. As many of you know, this is my third GoFundMe in six months (and yes, I’m making the “you’re a frequent flyer” joke for you ). Life doesn’t seem to want to give us a breather, but here we are — showing up and doing the thing, because that’s what moms do.

What happened?

Just as I was starting a new chapter with Kitsap Mental Health Services, I was unexpectedly let go. The reason? They required a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Despite my two decades of experience, despite being nearly finished with a master’s degree in counseling (just an internship away), someone decided that didn’t count.

To make it sting even more, I have a BA in Liberal Arts with a Minor in Psychology and Buddhist Studies, years of clinical training, crisis work, and coursework — and somehow, that “wasn’t enough” to justify the role. So — poof! — the position was gone, and with it, the paycheck we were relying on… even after they had already sent an official offer letter knowing I was relocating for the job.

Why this matters:

The kids and I have been working hard to rebuild after some challenging times. We’ve come too far for this bump in the road to send us backward. This ask is about making sure we can cover rent, utilities, and basic essentials while I land the next role.

Breakdown of Needs:

Rent: $2,000 (I have $1,600 coming in, but if I use it all for rent, I’ll be left with nothing for essentials.)

⚡ Utilities: ~$300

Total Goal: $2300

This amount will cover this month’s gap and give us a bit of breathing room until the next opportunity.
