I am seeking the final chapter in donations for a permanent fix for my amazing, strong and overly generous friend, who is in great need of some financial help.

Jayne has healed much quicker than her Surgeons anticipated, which is why expediting and raising this last half of the money is very time critical.

Here is an update on how Jayne is doing. Surgery was Nov 17, 2025, and it took 3 Surgeons and an army of Nurses and support staff to perform the17 hour and 42-minute surgery- which was a huge success!!!! Because Jayne is a warrior, she was only in the ICU for 4 days, instead of an estimated 1-2 weeks and then she was discharged 3 days after getting out of the ICU – she was blessed with a miracle!!! This surgery would have NEVER even been possible without all of the generosity from everyone and the thoughts and prayers. Jayne and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!!!

Once home, Jayne suffered severe headaches, excruciating pain, swelling and numbness in her jaw, face and neck. She was also non-weight bearing on her right leg, from where bone was taken from, to reconstruct her jaw and palate.

Thankfully the artery that was grafted from her leg and reinserted into her neck, has given her the new blood flow that she needed to begin healing her new palate. Speech and Language Pathologists and Physical Therapists, helped with returning the ability to manage puree foods and walking.

We are now almost 5 months post-surgery and the pain, swelling and numbness have become more manageable and the blood flow from the grafted vein has now made her a candidate for this FINAL needed surgery. The surgery will replace this temporary obturator -a highly specialized and individually crafted prosthetic device, used to close the defects in her hard palate. This specialized prosthetic will allow her to eat solid food, talk normally again and not be in continual pain - things that are so basic that we all take for granted every single day of our lives.

Thank you to EVERYONE who donated to get her to the halfway point of the fundraiser which was $12,500. Without that, Jayne would not have been able to have had the surgery.

I am looking now to raise the other half, $12,500, as soon as possible so she can have this last needed surgery. This surgery is a permanent fix and the final step in this very lengthy battle that Jayne has been fighting.

My name is Jody DiMaria and one of my best friends, Jayne Bennett, needs a small miracle that is only possible with your help!

In 2019 Jayne was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer - ACC or Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, which is only 1,200 of the yearly 600,000 cancer diagnosis and 1% of head and neck cancer diagnosis. She underwent 36 grueling rounds of radiation treatments (the picture is what she had to go through for each session), which began eroding her jawbone and upper palate over the years, which then also became a dental issue for her and very painful oral surgeries later took place, to try and hold as much of her bone and teeth together as possible. The cancer then in 2024, metastasized to her lungs and thank God was eradicated with treatment.

For those of you that do not know Jayne, she is a FIGHTER. She has been a Warrior and battled this for 6 years, while losing her job for 2 years due to the downsizing, helping her mother navigate through breast cancer and significant damage to her home from a hurricane, which has been a whole separate battle for her.

She now needs a very rare surgery that will allow her to have a "new jaw" so to speak and it will allow her to do the things that most of us take for granted every single day - the ability to chew our food, not have daily excruciating jaw pain, form words correctly and smile without feeling the need to cover your mouth.

The surgery requires 2 very specialized surgeons that will remove bone from her lower leg, to help rebuild the jawbone and she will require a minimum of a 1 week - 2-week ICU stay, where she will be intubated and heavily sedated. As a healthcare worker of 31 years, I know how excruciating this surgery will be and the aftercare. But her current jawbone and palate do not have the luxury of time, as each day and month that passes without having this surgery is even more detrimental.

The out-of-pocket cost is $25,000 with $12,500 up front, to even begin to engineer the new palate, a minimum of 2 weeks before the surgery, so raising the money to schedule the surgery is significantly time critical.

Jayne has always been a Champion of charities, fundraisers, has walked in several 3 day, 60 mile cancer walks for Moffit, has been a Moose Club member since 2001 helping with charity drives and can never turn down taking in a rescue dog.
