Help Jayne Beat Ovarian Cancer

Donation protected
For almost 2 years now, my sister Jayne has been fighting cancer. This began shortly after the loss of our father, and then our mother. She is my only sibling, and the thought of losing my little sister-my best friend- to cancer is devastating! (as those of you who have been through cancer with a loved one know). For her birthday this year, I asked her the typical question, "What would you like for your birthday?" Her reply was "All I want is to feel healthy again." With a flood of tears in my eyes, this Go Fund Me is my only way of hoping to help her fulfill her birthday wish.
In September 2018, she was diagnosed with a very rare aggressive cancer called Ovarian Carcinosarcoma (or MMMT). Following this, she had surgery, 5 months of chemotherapy, and by spring of 2019, she was declared NED (no evidence of disease). But, much to our dismay, 8 months later (Nov. 2019) her cancer had returned. We learned her particular cancer has a high rate of recurrence and we were overwhelming disappointed that it had returned so quickly. She had surgery (Dec. 2019) to remove 4 tumors and another 5 month series of chemotherapy was scheduled.
Given the fact that she had not been able to work much for 14 months due to surgeries and chemo, then another surgery, and now an additional 5 months of chemo...financial distress was inevitable. Then COVID hit (March 2020), and she and her husband lost their jobs with Cirque de Soleil shows in Las Vegas, putting that much more strain on their financial situation.
A few weeks ago (April 2020), in the middle of her 2nd series of chemotherapy, it was discovered her cancer had spread again.  It was also discovered it was because she is "platinum resistant"- which means that the chemo had not/would not work for her. So, chemo was stopped. Any chemo options available next for her are limited and have a poor response rate. IF they work, it may keep her alive for a few years at best, but there is no guarantee. Clinical trials are another an option, but currently there are none she would qualify for.  Sadness and discouragement set in for us all.
So...she began her search for hope, encouragement and other treatment options.  A couple of weeks ago (May 2020), she found it.  She began intensive, personalized treatment at Cancer Center for Healing in California, driving back and forth from Las Vegas weekly to do so. This treatment is not available in Las Vegas and is not covered by her Nevada Culinary Health Insurance...it is strictly out- of- pocket. Since she started this treatment, is has been amazing to see her transformation out of despair...she has hope, is more positive, her spirits are up and she is feeling better. That is half the fight of beating cancer.
With no insurance coverage for her cancer treatments, her travel and lodging expenses there, and the uncertainty of returning to work anytime soon, her ability to meet her continued medical cost demands is diminishing. She has applied for medical grants and housing through cancer support agencies, only to receive a small amount ; a fraction of the costs.
I know this is a tough time for everyone financially, so it is very difficult to ask this of you right now, but any little bit of help you can give her to help her continue her fight against this difficult cancer during these uncertain times would be wonderful, amazing, and greatly appreciated!  We would be grateful beyond measure! Please feel free to share this with your families and friends.  I wish you all peace, love and happiness. Thank you very much for your kindness!
Love, Suzi
