Hi, my name is Jayme, and the past few years have been incredibly difficult.
In 2021, I lost my newborn son, Kaleb. Shortly after, my father became critically ill, and I relocated from Atlanta to Connecticut to help care for him. During the years that followed, I exhausted my savings trying to support my family and handle legal matters surrounding my father’s care.
Eventually, I returned to Atlanta to rebuild my life. I found work and began starting over, but soon after, I was diagnosed with liver cancer. My health forced me to leave my job.
I worked hard to recover and recently secured housing in a small studio apartment near my job since I do not have a car. Unfortunately, I was unexpectedly laid off shortly after moving in, and my part-time assignment ended as well.
Right now, I am facing a housing crisis.
• $5,400 behind on rent
• $700 behind on electricity
• Risk of losing my housing
I am actively searching for work and applying for every assistance program available, but time is running out.
I am asking for help to catch up on rent and utilities so I can stay housed while I continue rebuilding my life and managing my health.
Any donation or share would mean more than words can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
— Jayme
