Justice for Jaylen Lewis: Help His Family Attend Court
On September 25, 2022, 25-year-old Jaylen Lewis—a loving son, brother, and father of three—was tragically killed by the Capitol Police in Jackson, Mississippi. Jaylen was unarmed when he was shot, his life taken far too soon, leaving behind a grieving mother, three sisters, and his young children who will grow up without their father.
After years of unanswered questions, two officers—Michael Rhinewalt and Stephen Frederick—have been indicted by a grand jury and charged with manslaughter for Jaylen’s killing. This is a critical moment in the fight for justice, and his family must be present to see it through.
Pre-trial and court proceedings are set to begin on October 15, 2025, in Jackson, Mississippi. His mother and three sisters live in Atlanta, Georgia, and they are determined to attend every single hearing and court date—to stand for Jaylen, to honor his memory, and to make sure his story is not silenced.
But travel and lodging for each court date will be costly. The family should not have to carry this financial burden while carrying the even heavier burden of grief. This is where we are asking for your help.
We are raising $30,000 to cover:
• Travel expenses from Atlanta to Jackson for each court date
• Lodging and meals during their stays
• Other necessary expenses tied to attending the trial
Your contribution, no matter the size, helps Jaylen’s family remain present in court and ensures their voices are heard in the pursuit of justice.
Jaylen’s life mattered. His story matters. And his family deserves to be there every step of the way.
Please donate and share this campaign widely. Together, we can help a grieving mother, three sisters, and three children continue the fight for truth, transparency, and accountability.
