Help Jaylen and his family on their road to recovery

My name is Katrina, and I am reaching out to seek support for my son, Jaylen, who was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on Sunday, 22 February 2026 — an incident many may have seen reported on the local news.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Jaylen was driving back to Ronald McDonald House in Brisbane after completing a 12-hour night shift in Tweed Heads. He and his partner, Mikayla, are currently staying there following the birth of their beautiful daughter, Madeline.

Madeline was born with a rare birth defect and will require multiple surgeries over the next two to three years. In just six short weeks of life, she has already undergone six surgeries. The emotional and physical toll of Mikayla’s pregnancy, Madeline’s birth, and navigating her complex medical needs has been incredibly challenging for them both.

As Jaylen was almost back to the hospital to see his daughter, an out-of-control stolen vehicle travelling at over 100km/h on the wrong side of the road collided head-on with his ute. As the photos show, it is nothing short of a miracle that he survived. Jaylen sustained head injuries, cuts and significant bruising, and remains in considerable physical pain. The trauma of the accident has also left deep emotional and mental scars. At the time, we did not know whether he would suffer lifelong injuries, and it was an incredibly frightening experience for our entire family.

We are beyond grateful that Jaylen is still with us — especially for Mikayla and his precious daughter Madeline, who is only just beginning her life.

This accident has had a devastating impact. Jaylen is currently unable to work, which has placed significant financial strain on their young family. In addition, his ute — which was a treasured gift from his late father — was completely destroyed. It was not only sentimental, but essential for travelling to and from work and managing daily life while living away from home.

Any support, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated. Donations will help ease the burden of living expenses, bills, and hopefully assist in replacing a reliable vehicle to help them get back on their feet.

Thank you sincerely for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
