On Sunday, July 27th, Jayla left home to go to the convenience store. She was about a mile from home when an erratic driver ran her off the road. Her vehicle flipped and landed on its side, hitting a tree. She was transported to Grady Trauma Center where she was for 7 days.
Her steering wheel airbag failed to deploy, causing facial trauma and the loss of at least 13 teeth. She suffered an open leg fracture, a broken ankle, and a fractured jaw. She has undergone 2 surgeries so far. She has a long road to recovery and will need extensive dental work.
Jayla is self-employed as a hair stylist/salon owner and will not be able to work for several months. As a self-employed individual, she doesn't have employer-sponsored paid time off or disability benefits. This fundraiser is to support Jayla with medical bills and living expenses as she navigates the months ahead.
