Help With Jay’s Expenses From His Accident

On November 7th our friend and brother, Jay De Anda, was in a terrible motorcycle accident on the Freeway. He was rushed to a hospital in Long Beach with life threatening injuries. They didn’t know who to contact, as he was unfortunately admitted as a John Doe and put into a medically induced coma in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Since then, Jay has had to have multiple surgeries on various organs in his abdomen, to stabilize him and to stop his internal bleeding. He also sustained several rib fractures and a collapsed lung from the impact of the accident.

Finally, on the following Wednesday, Jay (now on a ventilator) was able to write down the phone number for his brother, Dustin. With the help of the trauma team, his breathing tube was removed on 11/15, and though labored, he has been breathing on his own since. He still has at least one or two more surgeries on his leg/ankle, which is (of course) much less a priority. We all know that Jay can be a wild one, but this accident was not his fault.

Jay has a long road to recovery in front of him and will be in the ICU for probably 1-2 more weeks and in the hospital for a couple of weeks after being moved out of Intensive Care (this is the best guess, given the information that we have). Thank God that he was wearing a helmet and has no head trauma. He, as well as his family and close friends, are so grateful for that.

As we also know, Jay is a tattoo artist. Therefore, he is not technically an "employee," thus receiving no paid time off, sick days, health insurance, etc. We really need to come together to help Jay with his expenses while he is in the hospital and during the next phases of his recovery. We, his family, want to help as much as we can, but that can only go so far. If you have the ability to donate, please do. Jay’s family is trying to help him with rent, bills, medical expenses, etc. ANY AMOUNT HELPS! Really, any donation is greatly appreciated and will go to Dustin to help him facilitate the payment of whatever bill or whatever else needs to be paid.

Jay has been a great friend to so many of us. Please show a little love by donating whatever you can afford.
