Help Jay Wheel Back into Sport (Paracheer)
Donation protected
For those of you who don’t know me or my story, I have always been an active person, a keen sailor, dancer & cheerleader. Last year I was suffering extreme back pain and was admitted to hospital with suspected spinal injury paralysed from the waist down. I was diagnosed in August 2020 with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). FND is a neurological condition that causes a huge range of symptoms. For me this has mainly affected my lower body often leaving me unable to stand or walk without extreme pain. The vast majority of the time I need to use a wheelchair to get around. Further information on FND can be found at https://fndhope.org
I am learning to live with my condition and get back to the things I love within my new ‘normal’. One of the things I miss most of all is cheerleading. Whilst I will never be able to cheer and tumble like I used to, I would love to become involved with Paracheer, and get back to a competitive level.
I am working hard with physios and hope to get back in training for the beginning of next season, Sep 2021. Unfortunately, my NHS wheelchair is not suitable for sports use.
I am trying to raise funds to purchase myself a sports wheelchair, and other adaptations, which can be adjusted for a range of sports to give me the flexibility to lead a more active lifestyle again.
This new wheelchair would transform my life. If you would be willing to donate funds to help me towards my goal, I would greatly appreciate it.
