My name is Jay, and I’m reaching out because life has thrown me a few curveballs lately. I’m 56 and have always worked hard to provide for my family. My wife works at a nursing home, but her income isn’t quite enough to cover all our expenses. Recently, I had hip replacement surgery and spent four weeks healing, using up all of my paid time off. I was determined to get back to work and finally returned, feeling hopeful about moving forward.
Unfortunately, the very next morning after my first day back, I started feeling intense pain in my legs while having coffee. Thinking I’d just overdone it, I tried to take a hot shower to ease the aches. That’s when things took a turn—I became delirious and nauseous, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up on the floor. I had fallen, hurt my leg, and my face was swollen. I managed to crawl to bed and slept until noon. When my wife came home, she gave me a COVID test, which came back positive. It was a huge setback, especially after working so hard to recover.
On top of all this, my 24-year-old son, his wife, and my newborn granddaughter moved in with us just a week before my surgery. While I’m grateful to have them close, it’s added to our household expenses at a time when we’re already stretched thin. The funds from this fundraiser will help me make my house payment and cover bills while I’m unable to work. Anything would help me and mine tremendously. Thank you for considering supporting us during this difficult time.
