Support Jay, A Beloved Queer Elder in Vallejo
We are coming together to support Jay, a beloved queer elder and longtime presence at TownHouse Bar in Vallejo, CA. For many years, Jay has been more than a familiar face– he’s been a steady source of wisdom, humor, and care for countless people who have passed through TownHouse’s doors. For many in community, Jay has been a friend, a listener, a protector, and an elder who made space for others to feel seen and safe.
Right now, Jay is recovering at Kaiser hospital * and facing significant medical needs. As some of us know too well, medical care can be overwhelming–emotionally, physically, and financially–especially for elders and for LGBTQ+ community members who have often carried others without being adequately supported themselves.
This fundraiser is to help cover medical expenses, ongoing care, and recovery support so Jay can focus on healing without the added burden of financial stress. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure Jay receives the care he needs and deserves.
*Jay has now moved to sheltered housing.
If Jay has ever:
Offered you kindness on a hard day
Made you feel welcome or less alone
Shared a story, a laugh, or moments of understanding through karaoke song,
This is a chance to give some of that care back.
If you’re not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser and holding Jay in your thoughts means just as much. Let’s show up for one of our own–the way Jay has shown up for so many!
With deep gratitude and love,
TownHouse Vallejo Community
