Help Jay Get Back To Helping Others

Donation protected
Hello friends and family. Many of you know that my husband Jay was injured in November, while at a conference for Team Rubicon. His slip and fall on icy stairs resulted in blood clots and multiple partial tears around his left knee. Now, one month later, he can shuffle with one crutch and get in and out of the shower without aid. However, this causes increased swelling and pain, and he therefore must keep his leg elevated as much as possible.

After MRI's, and a lengthy consultation with the VA orthopedist in Portland, we now know that Jay will need at least 3 more months of healing to be walking normally; this will require intensive physical therapy. Regaining full strength will take even more time. Since his job at Safeway entails throwing stock or standing for hours at a time, he is unable to return to work. Jay will continue his work with Team Rubicon, though, in a less physical capacity.

After much confusing paperwork, Jay hopes the union will cover 55% of his average weekly income. While this coverage is much-appreciated, it will leave a significant financial gap. We will soon be struggling to make ends meet, since he has already been out of work for close to a month.

Your donations will help Jay rest, focus on healing, and get back to what he does best: helping others.
