Help Jay Fortenberry Recover After Being Run Over by Train.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Todd. Although, that is not important. I am starting a GoFundMe page for my friend, Daniel "Jay" Fortenberry. Jay is 18 years old and dropped out of school in the 9th grade. Jay has known many ups and downs in his short life, including being diagnosed with multiple psychological issues.
On the night of March 23, 2025, he got into a disagreement with his stepfather. He left his home feeling as if he had been asked to leave by his stepfather. Not being sure what to do, he made his way to his ex's residence hoping to find some shelter. His ex loaded him in the car and drove him from Del City to one of the Oklahoma City homeless shelters. However, Jay arrived at the homeless shelter after they had stopped accepting people that evening. So now he was in Oklahoma City with no place to go. Jay found his way to a train yard, where he realized that there were other homeless people sleeping on the tracks under trains, and thought that he too, would be safe there.
Unfortunately, sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 am, the train Jay was under started to move. Jay panicked and tried to jump out from under the train. Unfortunately for Jay, that did not go as he hoped it would. The train caught his right leg and severed it above the ball joint. It also crushed his bladder. Jay cannot get an artificial hip implant due to the ball socket being ripped out. He has an ostomy bag currently and expects to have to keep it for 2 years minimum. Jay is going to be hospitalized for quite some time. Jay's bills are easily going to be in the millions of dollars, and while he has insurance, it will be gone long before his surgeries (and there are many of them to come) are completed. Please, anything that you could do to help him would be greatly appreciated.
Jay is still hospitalized at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Jay's right leg was completely severed above the ball joint. He laid on the ground for over half an hour before a policeman found him. Fortunately for Jay, the train somehow cauterized the major arteries preventing him from bleeding out and dying that night. Please, anything you can do to help my friend would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and God bless you and Jay.
