Help Jay and Jules with Baby's Heart Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Darcie, and I am a long time friend of this family. I’m starting this GoFundMe campaign to support a very special family—Jay and Jules Jackson—who are facing a challenging journey. Both Jay and Jules are dedicated members of their community and church. Jay, a retired veteran, now works as a security guard at Two Rock, while Jules works in human resources for a small company. They are eagerly expecting twins, a boy and a girl, due on April 24th, 2025.
While they are thrilled to welcome their little ones, they’ve received heartbreaking news. Their baby girl has been diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect, where the two main arteries of the heart fail to form properly during fetal development. Instead of two separate vessels, she will be born with only one large vessel, known as the Truncus Arteriosus, which is responsible for carrying blood away from the heart. This condition disrupts normal blood flow to the heart, lungs, and body. Multiple surgeries will be required to correct the defect, with the first surgery happening immediately after birth.
Jules will need to undergo a C-section, and in addition to her recovery, both parents will likely be unable to work for up to four months as they care for their newborns through this difficult time.
The medical costs are significant, with co-pays, surgical fees, medical supplies, in-home nurses, and housing near UCSF for the surgeries adding up quickly. It’s estimated that these expenses could exceed $50,000.
Jay, Jules, and their babies have a long road ahead, but with the love, prayers, and support of their community, we’re hopeful they can overcome these challenges. Any contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated as they navigate this difficult journey.
