Help Jay and Ellie recover from the Marshall Fire

My kids, Ellie (19) and Jay (17), had their lives upended when their Dad’s home was completely destroyed in the Marshall Fire in Louisville. Both Ellie and Jay were in Arizona and were traveling home when the fire hit. Ellie had stored all of her sentimental items at her Dad’s house when she went to college, so while many of her day to day items were not destroyed, she lost so many sentimental items and keepsakes.
Jay suffered far greater damages. As many people know, Jay’s passion is cars. Jay saved up money for years to buy “Marco the Mazda” when he turned 16. He was able to pay for Marco the Mazda completely on his own. After buying Marco the Mazda, Jay had done numerous upgrades and improvements to it.
Unfortunately, as you can see below, Marco did not make it through the fire and was completely destroyed. To make matters worse, all of Jay’s tools and mechanic equipment was in the back of the car and were also completely destroyed by the fire.
This is only part of the loss both Ellie and Jay suffered. As you might expect, both are devastated by this. We recently learned that Jay’s car will not be covered by insurance and so he will have entirely lost his passion project for the last several years.
That is why this Gofundme was put together. It is impossible to replace keepsakes or replace Marco the Mazda, but we would like to show love and support for Ellie and Jay and give them a hand as they move forward.
We are looking to raise $15,000 to allow Jay to buy a new comparable car and tools similar to those he lost in the fire. We are raising $5,000 for Ellie to replace as many of the items she lost that we can. Any amount raised over the combined $20,000 (which would be amazing and unbelievably appreciated), will be placed in equal college funds for both Ellie and Jay. Ellie is studying molecular biology at the University of Wyoming (Go Pokes!) and Jay is a senior in high school and looking to go into an advanced automotive technical program.
