Let’s help send Jaxon to the Napa Rehab Center!
As many know, Jaxson was diagnosed with Rasmussen Encephalitis in May of this year after suffering from seizures that started late 2020. There is no cure for RE, the only way to stop the seizures and the disease from spreading in Jaxson’s brain was to perform a procedure called a Functional Hemispherectomy on the right side of his brain, which is where the encephalitis was.
What is a hemispherectomy?
A hemispherectomy is where half of the brain is either totally or partly removed or disconnected from the rest of the brain. It is a rare surgical procedure done for epilepsy and seizures not responsive to medications. Jaxson underwent surgery on June 9th at Kaiser in Santa Clara. After about a week and a half he was transferred to a Rehabilitation Center at Valley Med where he is currently getting three hours of rehab every day. Jaxson has a long road ahead of him, and Jeron and Tara are determined to get him as much help and therapy as possible. They have signed up for the NAPA Pediatric Intensive Therapy Program in Los Angeles, and can use any and all help possible to help cover the costs of therapy at the NAPA Center and lodging. Please consider helping this amazing superstar out on his road to recovery!
