Help Jaxon Lopez and his family
Donation protected
My name is Shane Darr and I am posting this GoFundMe campaign to try and help my Sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Anthony Lopez.

Julie and Anthony welcomed their new baby boy, Jaxon Emilio Lopez into this world at 5:35pm on Friday, February 26th. Jaxon was 19.5inches long and weighed 8.3 pounds. During Julie's pregnancy she had every indication that Jaxon was growing and developing normally however once Jaxon was born it was immediately obvious that all was not well.

Jaxon was born with a condition called Meningomyelocele Spina Bifida. This condition is a birth defect in which a baby's spinal cord fails to develop properly while in the womb. The spine does not close properly and part of the spinal cord is contained in a growth on the baby's back.
Jaxon was transported to Cardon Children's in Mesa where he will undergo surgery to try and repair as much of the damage as possible. The neuro surgeon will go in and attempt to put the spinal cord back into place and close the spine. Due to the hospital being so far to drive, Julie and Anthony are looking into hotel accommodations in Mesa to be close to Jaxon while he is in the hospital.
The surgeon said that Jaxon is moving his legs which is a good sign but the spinal cord must be repaired in order to avoid a life threatening infection and the surgery may cause further damage. The full effects of this condition won't be known until Jaxon starts to develop but the list of possible physical and mental developmental issues is long.
During this very difficulty time for Julie and Anthony, we want to rally around them and show them our love and support. The best way for us to show our support is by saying a prayer for Jaxon and his mom and dad and by making sure that they have the financial resources to be with and care for their son.
Please consider donating to this amazing family and helping them get the best start on the long and difficult journey ahead of them.
