Help Jax Run Again: Support His Surgery

This is Jax, our sweet, loving 5-year-old big boy! We rescued Jax from a local shelter in 2019 when he was a few months old, and he’s grown to be the sweetest family pup. He enjoys napping next to us, rolling around in the backyard, and watching sunset from the porch.

Recently, we noticed he started limping from his hind legs, and after close monitoring and a vet visit, we decided something serious was going on. I took him to a surgical specialist who confirmed he had torn his CCL in both hind legs and that Jax would need surgery to fix it. The estimate provided for his TPLO surgery will be over $6,000 per leg, so that would mean over $12,000 for both legs! This only includes x-ray services, bloodwork, and the surgery. We still have to get him pain meds and take him to a few follow-up appointments after surgery to ensure a healthy recovery, which adds up to another $1,000 or more.

Although I live with my parents, I am responsible for Jax's expenses and care as he is my dog. As a recent college graduate who is continuing school and has many financial responsibilities, it is very hard for me to cover these expenses and get Jax both surgeries as soon as possible. I don't want to have to give Jax up because he is my best friend; giving up this pup would be heartbreaking for me, but watching him suffer in pain and discomfort is just as heartbreaking. ¡Este es Jax, nuestro dulce y cariñoso perrito de 5 años! Rescatamos a Jax de un refugio local en 2019 cuando tenía unos meses y se ha convertido en el cachorro más dulce y amable. Le gusta tomar siestas junto a nosotros, revolcarse en el patio trasero y contemplar el atardecer desde el porche.

Recientemente, notamos que comenzó a cojear de sus patas traseras y, después de un estrecho seguimiento y una visita al veterinario, decidimos que algo grave estaba pasando. Lo llevé a un especialista en cirugía, quien confirmó que se había desgarrado el ligamento cruzado anterior de ambas patas traseras y que Jax necesitaría cirugía para arreglarlo. El estimado proporcionado para su cirugía TPLO será de más de $6,000 por pierna, eso significaría más de $12,000 para ambas piernas.
