Last Saturday afternoon, my beloved kitten Jax had a terrible accident. We went out onto my patio together to carefully explore. At first, he stood still as I hovered over him to make sure he was safe. He then playfully stretched into a straight line and rolled out of my reach right under the bottom of the patio railing. It happened in a split second. He tragically fell from the 10th floor 5 stories down to the 5th floor dog run.

I raced downstairs to find my kitten bleeding from his nose and eyes, unable to move two of his legs and meowing incessantly. We raced to the emergency vet where they admitted him under critical condition and has been ever since.

Jax suffered a major head trauma and swelling of the brain, bruised lungs, and respiratory system injuries. His pelvic bone is broken in 2 places and his humerus bone is broken in 1.

While this tragic accident has not only been an extremely tumultuous time it has also left me with a considerable financial hardship.

Now for the GOOD NEWS...after a grueling first 48 hours he is now stable, and his prognosis is good. His doctors are saying he will make a full recovery after surgical treatments to repair his broken bones and other injuries. His surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, December 16th and I am looking at the following medical bills:

• Total cost for hospitalization & surgery - $20,000

• Total cost for surgery alone - $13,000

• Cost accrued so far for hospital stay and treatments - $7,000
