Please help Javin in his battle with cancer

The story I’m about to tell is one no parent should have to live through; it is the events that led to my son’s cancer diagnosis. It has been a very stressful and painful journey for us to even get this diagnosis. It is hard to put into words all the emotions that I am feeling but here it goes. Javin, my rainbow baby, is seven years old. Only two months ago, Javin was a happy energetic little boy who loved to play outside with his two brothers and his friends. It is hard to believe that in such a short amount of time our lives would drastically change, and in the midst of a worldwide pandemic no less! On August 4th, Javin started to have severe pain in his left hip and leg to where he was not able to walk. We were referred to the emergency department where doctors did an x ray on both legs. The doctors did not see anything concerning and shrugged it off as growing pains and sent us on our way. The next day, Javin developed severe pain in his lower back. By August 6th, we were back in the emergency room and an ultrasound was performed. It was discovered that there was inflammation and fluid build up in Javin’s left hip. We were admitted to Sanford Children's Hospital. That evening Javin was sedated and an MRI was performed. The results found an infection in Javin’[s left hip. He was diagnosed with Osteomyelitis, which is an infection in a bone. Infections can reach a bone by traveling through the bloodstream or spreading from nearby tissue, or begin in the bone itself when an injury exposes the bone to germs. He was started on IV antibiotics immediately. We were making progress in the hospital. Javin was doing physical therapy and he learned to use his walker. We were released from the hospital on August 13th. Everything was going well at home, or so we thought. On August 19th, we went in for Javin’s check-up and it showed he had regressed. Javin experienced severe pain in his leg once again. He spiked a fever of 102 degrees Fahrenheit and he began vomiting. The doctor also found his inflammation levels were rising up once again. We were again admitted to the hospital. The next day, Javin was sedated and underwent a three-hour MRI. We were in no way prepared for what we was about to hear with the results of the MRI. The MRI showed that Javin had several lesions on his spine. It would be a week later and several more tests before we got the words that no parent wants to hear. “Your child has cancer”, more specifically, he is diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). All our fears were now a hard-to-absorb reality. Our son Javin is such a little warrior. I wish I had as much courage as he has. He never once complained about any of the tests, or procedures performed. He remained in good spirits and making everyone laugh. Javin is devoted to his family; the only thing he wanted while in the hospital was to see his family. He missed being a family. Another hardship because of COVID is a no visitor policy making this even harder on Javin and our family. If not wanting to donate through the Go Fund Me Site.
