Help Javier Rebuild His Life Post-Stroke

On December 16th, Javier Vasquez (Q City) suffered a stroke and blood clot in his brain as a result of high blood pressure. As such, he was not immediately able to move, talk, or eat on his own.

Following his doctor's advice, he was transferred to Glen Cove Hospital on January 8th, where he will now focus on his recovery; this includes full-time physical therapy, in the care of amazing doctors and nurses. Throughout rehab, he will have to relearn many skills needed to be independent: walking, eating, maintaining conversations, etc.

He is currently showing signs of improvement, for which we are all grateful; however, it will be a long and strenuous effort toward full recovery. Understandably, he will be out of work for the duration of this difficult journey. As his ability and timeframe to return to work remain unclear, his bills are piling up, and he is very much in need of additional support.

So on behalf of his family I ask you please, let's help Javier focus on the things that truly matter: his health and recovery. Any amount, big or small, that can be donated will be greatly appreciated.

El 16 de diciembre, Javier Vásquez (Q City) sufrió un derrame cerebral y un coágulo de sangre en el cerebro como resultado de la presión arterial alta. Como tal, no pudo moverse, hablar o comer por su cuenta de inmediato.

Siguiendo el consejo de su médico, fue trasladado al Hospital Glen Cove el 8 de enero, donde ahora se centrará en su recuperación; esto incluye fisioterapia a tiempo completo, al cuidado de médicos y enfermeras increíbles. A lo largo de la rehabilitación tendrá que volver a aprender muchas habilidades necesarias para ser independiente; caminar, comer, mantener conversaciones, etc.

Actualmente está mostrando signos de mejoría, por lo que todos estamos agradecidos, sin embargo, será un esfuerzo largo y extenuante hacia la recuperación completa. Es comprensible que esté sin trabajo durante la duración de este difícil viaje. Como su capacidad y el plazo para volver al trabajo siguen sin estar claros, sus facturas se están acumulando y necesita mucho apoyo adicional.
