In 2024, Javier fled Venezuela after a direct threat to his life was made by the Venezuelan government. He arrived in the United States with the sole goal of providing for his 14-year-old son, who is currently still in Venezuela.

Since his arrival, Javier opened an asylum case with immigration services and is hoping to obtain protected asylum status this year to continue providing for his family.

On April 16th, Javier makes a court appearance in his ongoing case and is looking for legal representation.

Being represented in this appearance is crucial in making his case known and receiving the protected status he deserves. Initial Lawyer fees add up to about $2,000, and with his current job as a granite installer, that number is a hard one to meet.

However, without legal representation, Javier faces deportation.

Deportation to Venezuela would put Javier’s life back in jeopardy and would destroy the only support his son has in a struggling Venezuela.
